The <a href="https://support.monday.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000504840-The-Last-Updated-column-" target="_blank">last updated</a> column represents when an item was last updated and who made the updates. **This column is partially supported by our API,** so you can read the last updated column via the API but cannot update it.

# Reading the last updated column

You can return the data in a last updated column in just one format. The text field will return the data as a simple string that displays the date and time the column was last updated. The value field will return _null._
