Developer/Sandbox Account

Sign up for a free monday.com developer account to build and test apps and API integrations in a sandbox separate from your production data.

A developer account (also called a sandbox account) is a free monday.com account designed for building and testing monday apps and API integrations. It runs in an environment separate from your production or work data, so you can experiment without affecting live workflows.

You can use any monday.com account to explore the apps framework and API. A developer account is the recommended option when you need higher limits and Pro/Enterprise capabilities for thorough testing.

Account terms and intended use

Developer accounts are for development and testing only. They are not intended for running production business workflows or serving end customers.

Keep these guidelines in mind:

  • Separate from production data — Use your developer account to build and test apps and API integrations without touching live account data.
  • Invite teammates for realistic testing — You can add up to 10 users to simulate collaboration, permissions, and multi-user app flows.
  • Respect account limits — Item, automation, integration, and API complexity limits apply. Plan load tests and large-scale scenarios accordingly.
  • Request more capacity when needed — If your app requires limits beyond the defaults, submit a request (see below). The team reviews requests within five business days.

Request additional testing capacity

If your app needs higher limits—for example, more items, automation actions, or API complexity—submit a request through the marketplace partner extensions form. The monday.com team reviews requests within five business days.

Next steps

  1. Open the Developer Center — Manage API tokens, the API playground, and analytics.
  2. Make your first API request — Set up authentication and send a GraphQL query.
  3. Build your first app — Create an app in the apps framework.
  4. Join the developer community — Ask questions, share feedback, and stay up to date on releases.
