Workspace app features

monday.com workspaces give the platform more structure and a hierarchy of organization to help manage different teams and projects in one place. The Main Workspace is automatically created inside of accounts, but users can add their own open or closed workspaces. Inside each, they can create folders, boards, dashboards, docs, and much more to complete their work!

Workspace app features build on top of the platform and enable developers to create apps that work on the workspace level. These app features combine data across the entire workspace and provide dedicated real estate to display its contents. We currently support one workspace app feature called a workspace view.

The rest of this guide will explore the basic details of the workspace view and show you how to create your own workspace app feature.

Selecting a workspace feature

Workspace view

The workspace view feature enables you to perform an action on an entire workspace.

When a user installs an app(s) with a workspace view feature, the Workspace apps dropdown will appear in the left pane menu of the monday.com platform. After clicking on the dropdown, all of the available workspace app features will appear for them to select which they would like to use. If the user doesn't have any workspace apps installed on their account, the dropdown will not appear.

You can use this feature for any app that works on an entire workspace, such as displaying all of the workspace's contents in one location.

Building a workspace feature

  1. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
  2. Select Developers. This will open the Developer Center in a new tab.
  3. On the new tab, click Create app.
